Prime Minister dispels impression of giving extension to DG ISI
Updated 4 weeks ago
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani Sunday dispelled the impression of anything being said as regards giving extension in service to DG ISI with an aim to 'improve matters' with the army, Geo News reported.
"All these references (about granting of extension to DG ISI) are nothing but disinformation," the Prime Minister said while talking to media men upon his return from Davos after attending World Economic Forum there.
Regarding early elections, the Prime Minister said consultations would be held with the coalition if the opposition talked through logic.
"It is up to the Prime Minister to decide whether the elections are to be held earlier than schedule or on time," he said.
He said by-polls would be held according to the schedule, adding, the Election Commission had presented its standpoint before the Supreme Court which had also come up with its explanation on the matter.
The Premier said negotiations would be held with the opposition on 20th amendment of the Constitution.
"I respect Shahbaz Sharif and I will not be provoked by his statement about provision of security to Mansoor Ijaz," he said, adding, the matter was sub judice in the court.
He said the issue of Khurram Rasool was brought to his knowledge by IB (Intelligence Bureau) and directives had been issued to the Interior Ministry for its inquiry.
The Prime Minister said any decision of the Parliament on Nato supplies' issue would be accepted. "Now there is no dictator (in the country) who would accept all the demands on a single phone call," he said.
He said except for Punjab the three provinces had reached a consensus on formation of a drug regulatory authority but added that Punjab would not let such an authority to be formed.

PM sahib, how many days we should have to wait to get your clarification again regarding this statement. No people have now faith with you and your statements. You are now known as most corrupt person of country. Better to be silent for coming days and earn money through your kids.

Dear MP…… it will extend creditability of Pakistanis in abroad if you please shut your mouth all the time. Do your business only through KHURAAM RASOOLS, RAO SHAKEELS and ADNAN KHAWAJAS with help of your kids who became billionaires with grace of PM house. Hope you are now not behind to your corrupt leader Zardari to make money.

At a time when the general election is drawing closer the PM should not do away with loyal servants like General Pusha for cheap political gain. The security conditions around Pakistan are not so good i.e. possible US / Israeli war in Iran, and Pakistan needs a safe pair of hands to guide it though these troubled times.

@ farhan: You may be right and yes I expected Obama to be different. The policies seem to be same. I do however believe that in USA civil authorities have more control. I think regardless of what USA does or does not, I think the civilian government should be in charge and voters(we the people ) must develop the discipline and discretion to use our vote well. We ( voters) also must take some accountability

It is silly of Gilani to talk about it, obviously a trap was set for him and he fell for it. There should be no extensions - period. Term limits are set for a reason and should be adhered to strictly.
