One killed, 13 injured in Shalimar Express blast

TOBA TEK SINGH: One child was killed and at least thirteen people were injured in a blast that took place in a bogey of the Shalimar Express on Monday.

 

The train was travelling from Lahore to Karachi when the blast took place in the washroom of the bogey. Rescue teams reached the site of the explosion and the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals.

 

Railways Minister, Saad Rafique said three of those injured were in critical condition and security was the responsibility of the private company operating the train. The minister also confirmed that the train operators were receiving threats from extortionists.

 

DCO Toba Tek Singh, Dr Farah Masood while speaking to Geo News said 20-22 people were in the boogey when the blast took place.
