Rural areas suffer 16-20-hr power outages

PESHAWAR: With the advent of hot summer hours long power outages has returned like a nightmare to scare the people out of their wits and public and social circles of the provincial metropolis have held an appeal to the government to address the longstanding issue.


As many as 20 hours power outages were carried out in Nodeha Payan (Bara Gate) area of district Peshawar.


In the urban areas 12 hours load shedding whereas 16 to 29 hours load shedding was carried out in the rural areas of the provincial capital that has also created acute shortage of drinking water in these areas.


In the interior city and in parts of cantt one hour load shedding was carried out after every hour whereas one hour power is provided after three hours to people living in rural areas.


The long hours' power outages have badly affected businesses and other routine activities of life. Students are finding it very hard to continue their studies in the present scenario whereas public is also complaining about acute shortage of water for drinking and other purposes in their respective areas.


The residents of Bara Gate have appealed to the government to minimize the duration of load shedding in the hot weather and warned of holding protest demonstrations if the problem was not addressed. (APP)
