PESHAWAR: The Hayatabad Students Federation on Friday expressed concern over the expulsion of students from hostels by the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA).
Addressing a press conference here, president of the federation Ghulam Rasool said the PDA authorities have started expelling students from private hostels in the name of closing commercial activities in residential areas.
Raids are being conducted on the hostels at nights and several students were arrested, he said. He said that the government and private educational institutions in Hayatabad do not provide hostel facility to the students and some 9,000 students from different parts of the province were living in the private hostels.
He demanded of the chairman Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and Minister Local Government Inayatullah Khan to take notice of the situation and stop the students’ expulsion from hostels.
