Governor praises sacrifices of security forces, tribesmen

WANA: Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan Thursday said the patriotic tribesmen and security forces had rendered great sacrifices for the peace, sovereignty and integration of the country. “The sacrifices and the role of the security forces and the tribal people in bringing peace and stability to the region are commendable. Now it’s time to take concrete measure for the well-being of the tribal people,” the governor told a Jirga of Mahsud tribes at Sarwakai area during his visit to South Waziristan Agency.
GOC Maj-General Azhar Saleh Abbasi, MNA Ghalib Khan Wazir, MNA Maulana Muhammad Jamaluddin Mahsud, Senator Muhammad Saleh Shah and other officials were also present on the occasion.
He said the incumbent government was well aware of the problems and difficulties of the tribesmen.“Efforts are being made for the development of the region and to bring the people of Fata in the national mainstream,’ he maintained.
The governor announced that 400 youth from Mahsud tribe would be recruited in the Levies force in the agency. He said that after the completion of survey of the damaged houses, the compensation amount would soon be given to the affected people.
Governor said that Rs. 2 billion had been allocated for the development projects of the agency to rehabilitate and improve the infrastructure, adding that development work was under progress.
He announced Rs 100 million for the rehabilitation of two link roads in the Mahsud areas and for the rehabilitation of irrigation system.
The governor said the war against terrorism and militancy in the tribal region was being fought for the sovereignty and integrity of Pakistan, adding that the whole nation was united in the war against terrorism.
He said that austerity measures would be taken to ensure the provision of best infrastructure, health centers, schools, colleges, hospitals, employment opportunities and modern facilities in Fata. The governor said the dignified return and rehabilitation of displaced persons was the top most priority of the incumbent government.
