Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad has said that under the directive of the Prime Minister the Commission is working to establish one university or at least its sub campuses in every district of the country.
He expressed these views during the meeting with Federal Minister for Science and Technology Rana Tanvir Hussain.During the meeting Federal Minister for Science and Technology Rana Tanvir Hussain urged the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to ensure the quality of higher education in the country.
Though the infrastructure development is the pre requisite of any institution but the main capital is that of the human resources comes through quality education he added.He said that ministry has large number of research and development organizations which need to be linked with the universities so that the fruits of Science and technology must be materialized.
The Chairman HEC assured for the strengthening of the linkages between the academia and research institutions and pledged that a concept paper would be presented to the ministry for mutual cooperation between the universities and R&D organizations of the ministry.Minister and Chairman also discussed issues pertaining to COMSATS Institute of Information Technology.
