Islamabad: The Federal Directorate of Education has empowered the Islamabad’s educational institutions and area education officers’ offices working under its administrative control to install closed-circuit television surveillance system on their respective premises for the security of students and staff members.
A relevant official of the directorate told ‘The News’ that heads of 391 schools and colleges as well as area education officers have been given the one-time financial powers to execute the said work in strict compliance with the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority and general financial rules.
He said every educational institution would have to install IP-based CCTV surveillance system with the approved specifications and layout diagram.
The official said installation or commissioning of system should be done in such a manner so that it could be connected to a central uninterrupted power supply unit and internet to be provided in the next financial year 2015-16.
“The FDE inspection team will visit all such educational institutions to ensure that the system is installed properly and the quality of work is very good,” he said. The official said the funds required by educational institutions and AEO offices for the surveillance system installation had been re-appropriated.
