Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Faheem Zafar Khan has said that the Rawal Shopping Festival was a good activity organised by the business community of the city.
In an exclusive interview to ‘The News’, the RCB CEO said “We will make this festival more attractive for the residents of the twin cities next year.” “There is a need to arrange more such business galas and activities in the city to create a shopping environment and give an opportunity to the residents of the twin cities to have fun in shopping,” he added.
He appreciated the prize coupons distribution by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI).
Faheem Zafar Khan said that the business community could play an important role in beautification of the city just by decorating their offices and shops. The RCCI should play its role in convincing the business community to revamp their offices. He said “I want to make the city beautiful and I am making efforts to beautify the outlook of the shopping centres and offices.”
Talking about the projects of the RCB, Faheem Zafar Khan said, “After assuming the charge as the RCB CEO, the first step I have taken was to end corruption from the department and sacked around 200 ‘ghost employees’ and established public facilitation centre.
Now, hundreds of people are visiting the centre to get their issues solved.”
He said “We have planted 250,000 saplings within one year and built footpaths and plant corners at roadsides. I have requested the business community to refurbish their shops and offices and make them more attractive and beautiful,” he said.
Faheem Zafar Khan said that they were beautifying Rumi Park and making children’s play areas and food court to facilitate visitors. “We are planning to install big TV screens at Saddar and constructing car-parking for 200 vehicles,” he added.
RCB CEO Faheem Zafar Khan said that it was a difficult task for him to make changes in the city, especially convincing the business community, and get land for them to make greenbelts along roads, “but I have done it successfully with the blessing of Allah and cooperation of businessmen.”
