An elderly man, apparently, committed suicide after killing his teenage daughter at his apartment in G-8/1 Thursday morning leaving many unanswered questions behind the episode, the police spokesman said.
The police claimed that it could be a case of honour killing. The Margalla Police have taken both bodies and a 30-bore pistol into custody and shifted the bodies to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for post-mortem. The police said that one, Iqbal Ahmad, 65, was running air-conditions repairing shop at I&T Centre in G-8/1 and living in Flat No 7-B, Sreet-23 located in the upper portion of his shop along with his wife, a son and a daughter. His 18-year-old daughter Haleena Iqbal was studying in a local school and his 28-year-old son, Ali Iqbal, was working with him as his assistant, the police said.
The police, quoting statement of his son Ali Iqbal, said that he was sleeping in his room at about 6:00 a.m. when he heard sounds of gun fire, adding that he found his father and sister dead in a room when he rushed there and informed the police.
The people engaged in investigation of the case, pointing finger to his son as suspect, said that there was some evidences leading to his son. However, the police have decided to round him up for interrogation. The police said that wife of the deceased, Iqbal Ahmad, is avoiding to record statement before the investigators and kept silence. The investigators were concentrating on the aspect of honour killing, saying that Ali could be involved in the double murder. Dead bodies have been handed over to his son with the preliminary medico legal report indicating doubts in the killings.
