LAHORE
The Lahore High Court Chief Justice Ijazul Ahsan on Monday directed Punjab Textbook Board (PTB) to submit manuscript of Geography books of Class 8th wherein ‘wrong map’ of Pakistan was published. The petitioner’s counsel told the chief justice that the authorities concerned committed a serious crime by publishing wrong map of the country that amounted to misguiding and spoiling innocent minds of new generation. He pointed out that the map published in the Geography books showed “Saraikistan and Hazara” as two separate provinces, which was a gross violation of the Constitution. The counsel stated that the PTB ignored the order of the Supreme Court and published old syllabus of Class 8th. Managing Director of the board told the court that the books were published in light of the court order and decision of board of governors. Chief Justice Ahsan said strict action would be taken against the board authorities if violation of the apex court’s order was found in publishing of the books.
