Another worker of the PTI succumbed to injuries who had received injuries in a clash with the PML (N) activists in Yakki Gate police limits on Sunday night.
Police have registered an FIR No. 283/15 against accused Malik Tariq alias Pappa, Malik Ditta, Yusif, Khawar, Tara Butt, Khuram Butt, Chuadhry Zahid Hussain and Ahmad Rasheed. Police have arrested prime accused Allah Ditta and several other suspects.
The deceased persons were identified as Khuram Shahzad and Muhammad Arif. The injured were identified as Ali, Abdul Moeen, Haroon Butt, Ali Gilani, Challay Khan and Ali Baloch
Incharge Investigation Saqlain Gondal said the PML-N and PTI had their offices side by side. He said the accused were sitting with the PTI workers in their office sometime before the incident. Suddenly, accused Malik Tariq alias Pappa opened fire on the victims. The other accused persons who are his body guards also opened fire on them. Gondal told the media that weapons used in the firing were kalashnikovs and 9-mm pistols.
The victims received bullet-injuries. They were shifted to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced one named Khuram Shahzad as brought dead. Muhammad Arif, another victim, succumbed to injuries later in the hospital. The incident created panic in the locality. Heavy contingent of police and rescue teams reached the incident place on information and shifted victims to a nearby hospital.
Police removed the bodies to morgue for autopsy. They also collected forensic evidences from the crime scene and recorded the statements of the eye-witnesses.
Police confirmed the arrest of Allah Ditta adding the two accused were granted interim bail by anti-terrorism court. He said they were conducting raids to arrest the other accused persons and investigating the matter further.

The arrested accused were identified as Mumtaz alias Arshad and Raza. The accused were arrested by a special police team. The team raided a hideout and arrested the accused. They recovered one Mehran car, one motorcycle, five mobile-phones, two pistols and bullets. The accused have confessed to 70 incidents of crime during the initial investigation. Five cases have been traced against them. The accused used to break the locks of vehicles and steal them. Police said they were investigating the matter further.
