LAHORE
The Lahore High Court on Friday disposed of a petition of DJ Butt challenging the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) notice for recovery of Rs17.2 million as income tax, after the petitioner withdrew his petition. On Friday, petitioner's counsel requested to withdraw it as Butt wanted to approach the PRA and court allowed the request. Earlier, the court had restrained the PRA from deciding the income tax matter of the petitioner until decision of the instant petition. Petitioner counsel had submitted that the PRA had issued to Butt for recovery of Rs17.2 million as income tax. He said the authority did not follow the rules before issuing the notice.
He said the authority failed to rightly assess the income tax of his client.
He requested to set aside the tax assessment done by the authority and restrain additional commissioner income tax from holding proceedings against DJ Butt for the recovery of the tax.
