LAHORE
Fourteen religious and political parties including Jamat-e-Islami and Sunni Ittehad Council have announced their support the PTI candidates for NA-122 by polls.
The SIC leadership including Sahibzada Hamid Raza Qadri met with PTI leaders and announced their support. A joint press conference of religious parties was attended by leaders of SIC, Jamiat Ulmae Pakistan (Niazi), Jamiat Ulmae Pakistan, Sunni Tehreek, Sunni Youth Wing, Anjuman Talba-e-Islam, Pakistan Falah Party, National Mashaikh Council, Sunni Tanzeem ul Fuqraa, Tanzeem ul Masajid and Markazi Majlis Chashtia. All parties assured their full cooperation in by-elections to the PTI. The leaders said that the PML-N mandate was based on rigging and fraud. On the occasion, Ch Sarwar said that it was not an election of a candidate or a party but it was a national referendum against the corrupt government.
Past two and a half years proved to be worst for the public, he added. He said the PML-N had no political base and workers that is why the Punjab government including police was pushed into the campaign for Ayaz Sadiq. He warned that ensuring law and order was a responsibility of the government while adding that PTI workers were fully trained and the party was not the same that had contested the 2013 election. No rigging attempt would be successful of the government, he addded. Chaudhary Sarwar said the rulers were the founders of using government resources to contest elections. He said the PML-N should respect people’s votes and decisions. He said the rulers were only giving false hopes to the masses instead of resolving their problems in real terms. However, he said, the masses could no more be fooled and they would reject the PML-N supported candidates in the upcoming elections. He said the by-election results would serve as public referendum against the masses.
Sarwar said the rulers seemed not interested in holding local bodies’ elections but the PTI would now allow them to flee. He said the PTI would compel the rulers to hold local government elections on time as well as in a free and fair manner. PTI Central Organizer Jahangir Tareen said that he wished elections were held in his constituency as well. He said that PTI would challenge the stay order granted to Siddique Baloch in few days.
