LAHORE
The Punjab government is contemplating a move to run 500 public schools of the province under the public-private partnership model of Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) or through the adoption by the NGOs/philanthropists. A preliminary meeting in this regard was held recently. The meeting presided over by Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan was informed that there were around 500 schools across Punjab which were either non-functional, not giving good results or having low number of students. It was discussed that these schools could be run under the public-private partnership or be offered to the NGOs/philanthropists for getting better results by providing quality educational facilities at remote areas in cooperation.
