Rates of vegetables are on the rise ahead of Eidul Azha as it seems that the government has given free hand to profiteers to make money from the public.
The prices of onion, garlic, ginger, and tomato are continuously increasing during the last two weeks. The consumption of these items increases manifold during the Eid days being basic ingredients of the cooking.
The price of onion has added by almost Rs10 per kilogram during the last two weeks, same is with garlic, by Rs30 per kg, ginger Rs40 to 60 per kg, green chilli by Rs30 per kg, lemon by Rs20 to 40 per kg, coriander by Rs40 to 60 per kg. Despite its rising trend the government did not take any notice to provide relief to the public from it.
This week the price of potato new was increased by Re one per kg, fixed at Rs26 to 31 per kg, potato sugar-free by Rs2 per kg, at Rs16 to 18 per kg, potato stored at Rs8 to 10 per kg, while potato stored was sold at Rs31 per kg. The price of onion was further gained by Rs4 per kg, fixed at Rs44 to 47 per kg. The rates of tomato were fixed at Rs40 to 43 per kg and sold at Rs40 per kg. The price of garlic local was increased by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs125 to 135 per kg, garlic Chinese fixed at Rs145 to 160 per kg, both were sold at Rs160 to 180 per kg.
Ginger China was fixed at Rs145 to 160 per kg, ginger India was fixed at Rs65 to 70 per kg, while Indian was sold at Rs160 to 180 per kg. The price of brinjal was stable at Rs8 to 10 per kg. Cucumber local price was gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs70 to 80 per kg, cucumber farm by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs50 to 55 per kg, while sold at Rs80 per kg. Bitter gourd was increased by Rs5 per kg, fixed Rs55 to 60 per kg. The price of spinach was unchanged at Rs25 to 35 per kg, sold at Rs40 per kg. Zucchini local was gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs70 to 80 per kg.
The price of lemon local was gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs120 to 140 per kg, lemon Chinese by Rs17 per kg, was fixed at Rs90 to 100 per kg, while it sold at Rs140 per kg, and local at Rs160 per kg. Pumpkin price was increased by Rs10 per kg, fixed Rs25 to 32 per kg, sold at Rs35 per kg. The price of lufa was stable at Rs28 to 35 per kg, sold at Rs40 per kg.
The price of cabbage was gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs40 to 50, cauliflower by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs40 to 43 per kg, both were not sold there. The price of green chilli local gained by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs60 to 70 per kg, and green chilli farm by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs45 to 50 per kg, both sold at Rs80 per kg. Capsicum price was reduced by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs80 to 85 per kg, sold at Rs100 per kg. Arum price was gained by Rs16 per kg, fixed at Rs50 to 60 per kg, not sold in the makeshift markets. Ladyfinger was reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs45 to 50 per kg.
The price of different variety of apples was fixed at Rs45 to 120 per kg, while sold at Rs60 to 115 per kg. The rates of Banana A quality was fixed at Rs50 to 55 per dozen, B-quality at Rs35 to 40 per dozen, sold at Rs60 per dozen. Pomegranate local price was fixed at Rs90 to 100 per kg, Kandahri at Rs110 to 130 per kg. Guava rate was fixed at Rs35 to 40 per kg, not sold there. Sweet potato was fixed at Rs26 to 30 per kg, sold at Rs50 to 60 per kg. Peer price was gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs70 to 75 per kg, sold at Rs80 per kg.
Grapes gola Black was fixed at Rs115 to 120 per kg, Grapes Sunderkhani at Rs180 to 200 per kg, Grapes Gola at Rs90 to 95 per kg, Grapes Tofi fixed at Rs135 to 145 per kg, while sold at Rs145 to 200 per kg.
