The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has approved a budget of Rs. 12.977 billion for fiscal year 2015-16 which includes Rs. 10.845 billion for non-development whereas Rs. 2.132 billion for development projects.
The budget was approved in the 34th meeting of the LWMC’s Board of Directors (BOD) held at the head office on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by Chairman and Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab Khawaja Ahmad Hassan. Other important agendas discussed in the meeting were confirmation of the managing director for the next three years, construction of next two cells of Sanitary Landfill Site, Internal Audit Report for 2nd & 3rd quarter FY 2014-15 and employee’s provident fund trust and health insurance policy.
Officials said the amount for non-developmental expenditures included Rs. 6.261 billion for operational expenditures, Rs. 1.697 billion for waste treatment and disposal project, Rs. 2.623 billion for labour cost and Rs. 264 million for head office expenditures.
Approval was given to allocate the amount for construction of two new cells of sanitary landfill site, purchase of machinery for landfill site, rehabilitation of Mehmood Booti dumpsite, purchase of land for two transfer stations, construction and installation of eight new biogas plants in the rural UCs and fabrication and installation of 6,000 waste bins. The LWMC has also allocated an amount for hospital waste treatment and disposal plant and construction and demolition waste treatment and recycling plant for the upcoming financial year.
Other approvals included 100% increase in the financial assistance of the permanent employees in case of death on duty i.e. two lakh to four lakh, provision of group insurance, social security and EOBI to contractor’s workers, health insurance facility for corporate employees and formation of employee’s provident fund trust.
Members Board of Directors who attended the meeting included Member National Assembly Mehar Muhamamd Ishtiaq, Member Provincial Assembly Majid Zahoor, Vice Chairman Dr. Nasir Javaid, Ahmad Rafay Alam, Ms. Mussarat Jabeen, Mr. Tariq Manzoor, and Suhail Akhtar Shahzad. Managing Director Khalid Majeed, Company Secretary Muzaffar Islam, Chief Financial Officer Naveed Ahmed, Financial Advisor Ahsan Chugtai, General Manager Procurement Mr. Akhtar Butt, General Manage Human Resource & Administration Colonel Asad Farooq and Head of Communication Department Jamil Khawar were also among the attendees of the meeting. Khawaja Ahmad Hassan congratulates MD LWMC Khalid Majeed on the confirmation for the next three years and appreciated LWMC’s performance during the last fiscal year.
