Punjab University (PU) Syndicate in its meeting on Tuesday approved annual increments, efficiency-based increments and honorarium for teachers under the Tenure Track System (TTS).
The metering was presided over by PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran. The meeting on the demand of PU Academic Staff Association (PU-ASA) decided to increase honorarium of hostel wardens and superintendents by 20 percent. The meeting also approved all recommendations of Finance and Planning Committee and Academic Council. On the directions of Lahore High Court, the Syndicate accorded the opportunity of personal hearing to dismissed teacher of Department of Geography, Dr Farooq Ahmed, and University Law College Lecturer Dr Naveed Ahmed. The Syndicate, after hearing the both in person, decided to endorse previous decisions. The meeting discussed 20 out of 27 agenda items.
Meanwhile, according to a press release issued by the PU-ASA over 250 member teachers held a protest demonstration against some Syndicate members.
