Punjab Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has said the role of teachers for the development and betterment of any country is of great importance because they educate the young generation which is responsible to build a society in a constructive manner.
He said this while addressing the concluding ceremony of the third phase of short-term in-service training of college teachers jointly organised by University of Education (UoE) and Punjab Higher Education Department on Bank Road Campus on Friday.
UoE Vice-Chancellor Dr Faizul Hasan, Secretary HED Punjab Muhammad Aslam Kamboh, Deputy Secretary Numan Jameel, Principal Bank Road Campus Samina Shakar, faculty deans, educationists, teachers, and a large number of students were also present.
The minister said Pakistan had been facing a lot of challenges like poverty, corruption, and terrorism adding these could only be overcome by the healthy involvement of teachers in educational process as they could solve these problems by sensitising and educating the young generation. Dr Faizul Hasan said that for the promotion of research culture and quality education, teachers’ training on modern scientific patterns was a need of hour. By considering the modern needs and challenges, the command on modern subjects and methodology was not only important but fully involvement of students as well as teachers in educational process was essential, he added. More than 200 teachers were trained in the training which lasted for ten days.
