Family members of a man, who runs his business abroad and was deprived of Rs 5 million in a dacoity, protested in front of the Lahore Press Club against police inaction. Muhammad Firas told reporters that two gunmen stormed into his house at 198 Allama Iqbal Town, Nargis Block and took away gold, cash, a laptop and other things worth Rs 5 million. He said he registered an FIR 378/15 and no action was taken by the police against the dacoits. He warned prolonging his protest if action was not taken against the dacoits.
Meeting: The Additional Inspector General of Police, Punjab Highway Patrol, Mian Javed Islam, chaired a high level meeting regarding construction of riverine posts at Central Police Office Lahore on Friday.
DIG PHP Salman Choudhry, SP Headquarters Gull Snober, SP Sarghoda Region Fehmeda Yasmeen, SP Rawalpindi Capt (retd) Atta Mohammad, SP DG Khan Kafaitullah Bajwa, SP Bahawalpur Ibrar Khalil, DSP Operation Mumtaz Karim and ADIG Naveeda Hameed attended the meeting. Additional IG PHP Mian Javed Islam instructed the officers that they might ensure the rapid construction of riverine posts in coordination with the DPOs concerned and make a complete report. Promotions of PHP personnel as ASI and its good effects on performance of PHP were also discussed in the meeting.
Rescue: At least 630 road traffic accidents were reported in Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in all 36 Districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which 13 lives were lost and 534 seriously injured were shifted to different hospitals. However, some 266 minor injured were provided first aid by Rescue 1122 on the spot. According to data provided by the PMC, 273 drivers, 17 underage drivers, 110 pedestrians and 430 passengers were among the injured persons of these road traffic accidents.
anniversary: The first death anniversary of DIG National Highway and Motorway Police, late Mirza Shakeel Ahmad will be held on April 19, 2015, Sunday at 2:00 pm at his residence 69-H-2, Wapda Town, Lahore.
