The quarterly meeting of the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) was held at University of Health Sciences (UHS) on Monday which endorsed a phased project proposal for the effective control of the HIV/AIDS in the country.
According to a press release, the proposal for control of HIV/AIDS has been jointly developed by the National AIDS Control Programme, Government of Pakistan, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and an NGO, Nai Zindagi.
The meeting was chaired by Secretary, Ministry of National Health Service, Regulation, and Coordination, Muhammad Ayub Sheikh. More than 45 members, including representatives of provincial health department, multilateral, and bilateral agencies such as WHO, USAID, UNAIDS, UNDP, Non-Government Organisations, academic institutions, private businesses, and people living with diseases attended the meeting.
The CCM is a country level multi-stakeholder partnership which develops the grant proposals for the effective control of the HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria based on priority needs and submits them to the Global Fund, an international financing institution, which provides funding to support such programmes run by the local experts in more than 140 countries.
Baloch team: A special delegation of the Balochistan government visited the Emergency Services Academy Pakistan on Monday and met with DG Punjab Emergency Services and Emergency Services Academy Dr. Rizwan Naseer with an aim to replicate the Rescue 1122 -Emergency Management System in Balochistan.
The delegation discussed all the matters related to recruitment; training, operation, monitoring and evaluation, and accountability system to establish the same successful model in Balochistan.
The delegation comprised of Director PDMA Attaullah Mengal, Deputy Director (Planning) Mohammad Asghar, Deputy Director (A&R) Muhammad Ishaq, CBDRM Expert Beebarg Khan, DRM Specialist Naseeb Ullah, Transport Incharge Sher Ahmed, Warehouse Incharge Nida Mohammad, Programme Coordinator, superintendents, and others. Director General, Emergency Services Academy, Dr. Rizwan Naseer welcomed the delegation and appreciated the efforts of the Balochistan government for provision of basic right to timely emergency care to their citizens in case of emergencies.
