LAHORE TECHNICAL Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) will introduce an IT module in all courses for its students which will be mandatory for their regular studies. Chairperson TEVTA, Irfan Qaiser Sheikh while addressing a meeting with Business Enterprise Head of Microsoft in Asia, Faouzi Soussi here Thursday said the development of this module had been started by TEVTA up to the standards of Microsoft. At present, IT courses are the part of all the Diplomas of Associate Engineer (DAEs) courses but now TEVTA would also include in its short courses, one and two-year diploma courses as well. Irfan Qaiser said after completion of their studies, students would have a chance to take Microsoft examination to become Microsoft IT Certified. The collaboration of Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority with Microsoft would successfully take place in line with the policy guidelines of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to give IT training to the youth of Punjab, he said, adding that MS Office component and digital literacy would be the highlighted features of IT module. Faouzi Soussi said Microsoft would collaborate with TEVTA to promote IT module across TEVTA institutes with the purpose of enabling every TEVTA student to graduate with the critical skills required to be successful in today’s technologically evolving world. It was informed that over 17,000 Microsoft IT Academy members were in 133 countries (and growing at an annual rate of over 24 percent); academic institutions and academic leaders worldwide looked to the Microsoft IT Academy programme and Microsoft Certifications to offer the latest IT education programmes for Microsoft technologies to support their 21st century workforce development and career enhancement goals. Chief Operating Officer Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority Jawad Ahmed Qureshi, General Managers Hamid Ghani Anjum, Azhar Iqbal Shad, Business Development Manager Microsoft in Pakistan Ahmad Muaz and other officers of Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority were also present on the occasion.
