PUNJAB Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer and Programme Director of Directorate of Staff Development (DSD), Punjab, Ehsan Bhutta signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work jointly in the best interests of public for capacity building of District Teacher Educators as master trainers so that they may regularly train schoolteachers in lifesaving skills.
In this regard, the Head of Community Safety Wing of the Punjab Emergency Service Ms Roqiya Bano Javed and Course Coordinator Humaira Siddique also signed the document as focal persons for implementation of this programme.
According to the MoU, the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) will organise basic and advance training of lifesaving skills for District Teacher Educators (DTEs) in all districts of Punjab. Furthermore, the District Teacher Educators qualifying for basic training will be imparted with training. Accordingly, the Directorate of Staff Development will provide all logistic support for basic and advance training of DTEs, who will constitute Community Emergency Response Teams after enrolment as volunteer with Rescue 1122 and will work as Rescue Scouts in case of major emergencies and disasters. Both organisations will closely coordinate for follow-up and sustainability of School Safety Programme and further training of teachers in schools, which will be monitored by Rescue Staff.
Expressing his views on this occasion, DG Rescue Punjab Dr Rizwan Naseer said teachers were the real mentors of students; therefore, they could best deliver in character building of students to make them socially responsible citizens so that they could play their part for prevention of increasing number of emergencies and development of healthy, resilient and safer communities. Ehsan Bhutta said DSD would work shoulder-to-shoulder with Rescue 1122 to achieve aforesaid purpose.
