LAHORE
Majlis Wahdat Muslemin (MWM) staged demonstrations on Saturday to condemn a bomb attack at a Shikarpur Imambargah that left 60 dead, and demanded resignation of the Sindh chief minister for complete failure of his government to maintain law and order and protect lives of people.
A large number of MWM workers led by Ahmad Iqbal Rizvi, Syed Haider Moosvi, Hasan Hamdani, Abuzar Mehdvi, Allama Mazhar Naqvi and others gathered outside the Lahore Press Club and raised slogans against the Sindh government and banned outfits. They demanded speedy and strict action against banned outfits and release of arrested party workers. Pakistan Tehrik Insaf Punjab president Ijaz Chaudhry, PPP leader Amir Hussain, PAT leader Sajid Bhatti and Lahore Press Club president Arshad Ansari also joined the protesters. Later, they offered funeral prayers of Qamar Abbas Kazmi, a worker of Lahore who died in Shikarpur. The funeral was led by Allama Haider Moosvi.
Addressing the slogan chanting workers, the MWM leaders demanded that Sindh chief minister must resign for complete failure of his administration in preventing killings. They also demanded the lawyer community to stop opposing the 21st Constitutional amendment.
