An alleged extortionist also a member of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Ayub, was remanded to the Rangers for 90 days by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday.
The Rangers informed the court that the suspect was involved in collecting extortion money from people, besides there were also reports of his involvement in targeted killings as well as kidnapping for ransom.
A law officer representing the Rangers presented a letter confirming the arrest of Ayub under Section 11-EEEE of Pakistan Protection Ordinance, empowering the rangers to arrest any of the suspects involved in crimes for 90 days for holding interrogation.
The court placed the letter on record and endorsed the apprehension and detention of Ayub for 90 days.
