SHC seeks comments from Rangers, police officials

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has directed the federal and provincial law officers, police and Rangers to file comments on various petitions against detention of citizens, including government servants, allegedly by the personnel of law enforcement agencies.
Ayub, Samreen, Nasreen Kanwal, Mohammad Irfan Qureshi, Zahir Abdul Bari, Abdul Lateef, Samina Jamil, Naveed Ali, Rehana Meraj, Misbah Sabir, Jamila Begum, Kaneez Fatima, Saeema Naz, Zareena Khatoon, Zohra Bibi, Sakeena Bibi, Sanam Adnan, Shama Kiran, Zubair Shaukat, Shaista Riaz, Najma Tahir, Fatima Bibi, Khalid Dad, Zeenia Javed, Ghulam Rasool and Naeema have filed petitions against disappearance of their relatives during separate raids at different parts of the city.
They said that Mohammad Owais, Zeeshan, Mohammad Junaid, Mohammad Umair Abdullah, Saifullah, Aminullah, Shahzad Khan, Sheikh Jamil Ahmed, Shariq Kamal, Mairaj Ali, Dawood Ahmed, Mirza Maqsood Baig, Hasan Ali, Osama Nasir, Adeel, Mohammad Omer, Abdul Manan, Adnan Khan, Zaheer Shah, Umair Shafqat, Shahzad Khan, Mohammad Tahir Rehan, Mohammad Asif, Jibrael, Mohammed Javed, Mohammad Sadiq and Zubair Sultan were picked up from Lyari, Mehmoodabad, Lines Area, Nazimabad, Sohrab Goth, New Karachi, Civil Hospital, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Surjani Town, Orangi Town, Landhi, Korangi, Ramswami, Korangi Industrial Area, 13-D, Buffer Zone, North Nazimabad, Metrovel and Gulzar-e-Hijri areas.
The petitioners said that neither the police nor the Rangers had disclosed whereabouts of the detainees nor were they producing them before court of the law.
They have requested the Sindh High Court to direct the respondents to produce the detainees and release them if they are not required in any case.
