Arbab Ghulam Rahim has dropped a political bomb by claiming that Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari is about to join the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
With the Pakistan People’s Party chairman out of the political arena for quite some time now, Rahim’s statement comes at a time when rumours of differences between Asif Ali Zardari and his son are gaining strength.
Former Sindh chief minister Rahim, who had came to attend the Sindh Assembly session on Thursday, while talking to the media reminded the reporters of a prediction by the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) chief Pir Pagara of Bilawal leaving his “dynastic party”, adding it would soon come true.
He also said the stance of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the PML- F regarding the affairs of Sindh were the same.
Differences between Bilawal and his father reportedly cropped up when the former appointed Jahangir Badr and Bashir Riaz as his political adviser and press secretary, respectively, without consulting Zardari. Then Bilawal’s absence from the PPP’s foundation day function at the Bilawal house in Lahore in November lent credence to the rumours.
The PP chief also showed his discontent over the party’s support to the 21st amendment, which gave legal cover to set up military courts in the country. He had tweeted: “Parliament cuts its nose to spite its face. #21stAmendment.”
