Politicians welcome PM’s announcement of Indian pilot’s release
LAHORE: The politicians of Pakistan have welcomed the announcement of release of captured Indian pilot Abhinandan Varthaman by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The politicians termed the announcement a true goodwill gesture that could prove helpful in easing the prevailing tension between Indian and Pakistan. Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda while talking to The News stated it exhibited the genuine statesmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan to handle the present situation. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, former prime minister and PML-N MNA, while talking to The News said it was an appropriate step and a good gesture to ease the prevailing tensions at our borders.” He said that under the prevailing situation, there was no question of disunity but it would have been better if the government had taken this decision taking the Opposition parties into confidence, he said. PPP Central Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira while talking to The News said that the announcement by Prime Minister Imran Khan was a good gesture to India and stated wars were not solution to tackle the challenges faced by the countries. However, Kaira said he had no high hopes from India that it would reciprocate the goodwill gesture from Pakistan in the same way. “This is a very right move indeed, and it will exalt the status of Pakistan in the global community,” said Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, former PML-N MPA and member of Sikh Gurdwara Parbhandak Committee of Pakistan while talking to The News.
