KARACHI: The Federal Anti-Corruption Court (FACC) on Monday again issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for a Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and former federal minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim in the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) corruption case.
The judge of the Federal Anti-Corruption Court ordered the authorities to arrest Makhdoom Amin Fahim and present him before the court on October 22.
Earlier the court had been informed that the investigation officers (IOs) in the cases against the PPP leaders, former premier Yousuf Raza Gilani, former federal minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim and others were unable to appear in the court due to their other engagements.
The court, while adjourning the hearing, observed that charges against Gilani and other accused in the case would be framed at the next hearing.
Yousuf Raza Gilani and Makhdoom Amin Fahim, along with certain former and serving officials of the TDAP, were booked for their alleged involvement in false trade subsidies amounting to billions of rupees.
The former premier has been granted bail in as many as 11 corruption cases against bail bonds worth Rs0.1 million in each case.
Meanwhile, Yousuf Raza Gilani, while talking to the journalists outside the premises of the courtroom, said that he had come from Multan while his attorney from America just for attending the hearing, but the IOs were busy in other engagements.
He alleged that such tactics were part of political victimization of the PPP leaders.
“Yet we are seeking justice from the judiciary,” Gilani said.
He said the PPP faced defeat, but it did not quit politics.
Gilani felicitated Ayaz Sadiq, Shoaib Siddiqui and Riaz-ul-Haq for winning the by-elections in Lahore and Okara on Sunday.
He termed the by-elections held in Lahore and Okara as transparent.
Gilani said that in Okara, people had expressed their dissatisfaction over all the political parties.
He said, “We are reorganizing our party, and I have also asked Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to represent the youths of this country.”
Replying to another question, Gilani said that his leader, Asif Ali Zardari, was ill at present, but he would return to Pakistan as soon as he got well.
