ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani on Monday made it clear to the international community that Pakistan is a responsible country, and its national leadership across the board is more rational and sane as compared to the Indian leadership.
He was addressing as chief guest the inaugural ceremony of the 14th International Symposium on Advanced Materials (ISAM - 2014) at the National Center for Physics at the Quaid-e-Azam University.
He said the Government of Pakistan should raise this issue at international forums and take measures to address this injustice that will definitely lead to a war-like situation.
“India is denying Pakistan’s water rights by violating all the international water agreements and accords by building dams on rivers which are part of Pakistan’s share of water, and the future wars in the subcontinent and even in other parts of the world will be fought on water issue,” the Senate chairman observed.
He further said that there is clear discrimination between India and Pakistan by the West, especially the USA.
He pointed out that the US has entered into a civil-nuclear agreement with India but denied the same to Pakistan and therefore the US ought to enter into such agreements with Pakistan too.
He highlighted the scope of materials technology and termed it unlimited which has led to a significant increase in the range and depth of research and development in the industrially advanced world.
He said that science is a key to success in modern-day world and the pathway to progress.
Chairman of the Symposium, Ejaz Ahmed Mukhtar, emphasized the role of advanced materials saying that materials play a key role in the economic growth and development of any country, which is why humanity has always measured its progress in terms of the availability of new materials.
Scientists and engineers from various countries including Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China, Egypt, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Serbia, Singapore, Slovenia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Turkey, UAE, UK, USA, etc, in addition to 300 delegates from different educational and research institutions of Pakistan, are participating in the three-day symposium.
The papers to be presented will focus on topics like nano science and technology, biomaterials, processing and applications, magnetic materials, new ideas in polymet science and composites, advanced ceramics, surface engineering, material processing and others.
