SIALKOT: Gujranwala Regional Police Officer (RPO) Waqas Nazir, after a long meeting at DPO Office here on Thursday, convinced station house officers (SHOs) of 27 police stations in Sialkot district and other police officers to continue performing their duties.
He said it was a basic duty of all police officials to continue performing their duties under all circumstances and against all odds. He assured them that their dignity and honour would be safeguarded.Later, he had a farewell meeting with the transferred DPO Sialkot Dr Asif Shehzad.
Earlier, as the Punjab government issued orders to transfer the DPO in the wake of Daska incident of Monday, SHOs of 27 police stations in Sialkot district offered tendering their resignations. They termed the provincial government decision unjust and unfair. According to local police sources, besides the SHOs, hundreds of other inspectors, sub-inspectors, assistant sub-inspectors and constables had also offered tendering their resignations.
