PESHAWAR: The Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) Commissioner on Friday directed the assistant political agent of Upper Mohmand to stop mining at the disputed marble mines in Ziarat Killay till the next order of the court.
The FCR commissioner issued the directives on the application of Pir Rehman and Hakeem Khan. Both had sought the closure of the marble mines till a final decision by the court. The applicants claimed in the petition that their rivals, including Senator Muhammad Idrees Khan, Muhammad Imran Khan and Safi Masood, continued mining at disputed marble mines despite the fact that a case was being heard by the court of assistant political agent (APA).
They also submitted that Senator Idrees was using his political influence for illegal mining at the marble mines. The applicants informed the FCR commissioner that there was fear of a clash between the two rival groups if the mining work was not stopped.
After hearing arguments on the application, the FCR Commissioner ordered halting mining at Ziarat till a final decision in the case. The APA of Upper Mohmand was directed to ensure the court’s order and submit compliance report.
