LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday allowed District Coordination Officer Lahore to continue crackdown on restaurants and cafés offering ‘oxygen shots’ to customers.
Justice Farrukh Irfan Khan was hearing a petition moved by an owner of a café on MM Alam Road challenging action being taken by the district administration for serving oxygen shots, an energy boosting and relaxing therapy by inhaling pure oxygen.
DCO Muhammad Usman appeared before the court and stated that the use of oxygen shots was seriously health hazard. He said the use of these shots could prove fatal. The DCO stated that the oxygen shots should be declared a narcotic.
The judge directed the DCO to take strict action against the cafés serving oxygen shots and submit a report on March 3. The judge also summoned assistant attorney general on the matter.
