10 arrested for possessing hate material

PESHAWAR: In a move to implement the National Action Plan (NAP), the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police on Wednesday arrested 10 persons for possessing hate material and rounded up 85 others for misusing loudspeakers.
The government has ordered the police to go after the proscribed organisations and individuals under the National Action Plan (NAP) for possessing hate material, delivering hate speeches or misusing loudspeakers.
The NAP was launched in the wake of the horrific attack on Army Public School and College on December 16. “A crackdown was launched under the NAP all over the province during which 10 persons were arrested and 22 cases were lodged for possessing hate material. Around 86 cases were lodged and 85 persons arrested for misusing loudspeakers,” said a police official.
Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police apprehended 137 suspects and recovered huge quantity of arms and ammunition in the ongoing search and strike operation throughout the province. During the operation, 622 houses and 238 hotels were checked and 14 cases were registered against the violators of law.
Some 301 suspects were held during snap checking. The cops recovered 11 arms of different kinds and 99 cartridges. A total of 48 Afghans illegally living in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were detained and 30 cases registered against them. The security inspections of 1159 educational institution were also carried out and various institutions were advised to make more security arrangements.
