RAWALPINDI: The Judge of the Banking Court, Rawalpindi, Sabir Sultan, on Monday extended the judicial remand of super model Ayyan Ali till May 28 after the prosecution refused to argue on her bail application filed in the previous hearing.
Ayyan Ali was in a state of anger and tension when she appeared in the District Court, Rawalpindi. She did not meet even her father who had been waiting outside the court for hours on Monday.
Frustrated by the continuous stalking, Ayyan Ali shrugged off the arm of a man who was trying to have a close snap with his camera. The incident took place when she was being brought to the banking court.
The court heard two applications: One filed by Ayyan’s counsel requesting bail; and the other by the Customs investigation team to register a money laundering case against her.Defence lawyer Khurram Latif Khosa requested the court to allow him to argue over her bail application which the prosecution refused to take up, saying they were not ‘prepared’.
The court ordered the prosecution to prepare their arguments and adjourned the case until May 28.Ayyan’s father, Raja Hafeez, made a request to see his daughter which she had declined on numerous occasions.
Strict security measures were in place as Ayyan was taken to the court.Sources said that on the directions of the court, Customs officials would also start an investigation into her frequent travelling to Dubai and some other countries.
The Customs officials would investigate who was behind the case. The officials would investigate who had sponsored her for travelling to other countries several times. As per the State Bank of Pakistan’s foreign exchange regulations, a passenger cannot carry more than $10,000, or the equivalent of another currency, out of the country.
