14 new corona positive cases among members of Tableeghi Jamaat reported
SUKKUR: As many as 14 new cases of coronavirus positive on Wednesday were reported among the members of Tableeghi Jamaat in Khairpur.
Reports said the Khairpur administration had kept 363 members of Tableeghi Jamaat in quarantine at Tableeghi Markaz, who hailed from all over the country. District Health Officer, Khairpur, Muhammad Hassan Abro, confirmed that the samples of 40 members of Tableeghi Jamaat were sent for testing and 14 out of 40 cases were confirmed carrying COVID-19 disease. The district health officer Khairpur confirmed that the test of the remaining members of Tabhleegi Jamaat would be conducted after receiving kits from the health authorities. He said coronavirus positive patients were isolated at a quarantine centre established at the Shah Abdul Latif University, (SALU), Khairpur. Meanwhile, the members of the faculty and employees of SALU Khairpur have opposed setting up the quarantine centre on university premises, showing concerns over spreading virus among the residents of the university premises. Despite their opposition, vice-chancellor SALU allowed the authorities to set up a quarantine centre at foreign faculty.
