Food items distributed to 100 families in Manga as lockdown continues
MARDAN: Relief packages were distributed among 100 families of Manga union council, which has been completely locked down because of coronavirus cases.
On behalf of Ummah Welfare Trust, District Police Officer Sajjad Khan supervised the relief items distribution in Manga. Sajjad Khan said the relief packages included ghee, flour, rice and pulses.
On the occasion, Ummah Welfare Trust country director Saeed Imran lauded the district police and Pakistan Army for completely locking down the area and rendering other services to the residents. He also appreciated the DPO for ensuring his presence and helping in the relief activity.
In his speech on at the distribution ceremony, Sajjad Khan said that the residents were not alone in this difficult situation and police were there to assist them.
“The police not only are here to provide security along with the army, but our participation in relief activities will also continue,” the officer said.
Paramedics demand promotion: Meanwhile, paramedics of Mardan district have demanded the government to promote them, says a press release.
In a statement, Paramedics Association Mardan chapter president Fazl-e-Qayum, general secretary Sami-ur-Rehman and finance secretary Gul Sher Khan said that the paramedics were performing duty on frontline in the battle against coronavirus. They appealed to the provincial government to announce the upgradation of paramedics and also announced risk allowance for them.
Also, sources said that out of 417 people in the district, 83 had tested positive, while 233 suspected cases have been quarantined. Also, 5 suspected patients were declared healthy and discharged from the Isolation center which now houses 84 persons.
