KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MNA Fauzia Wahab was unexpectedly hospitalised on Sunday, and is said to be in a critical condition and on a ventilator, party sources confirmed.
According to reports, Fauzia Wahab underwent a gallbladder operation at the OMI Hospital in Karachi on Friday but developed complications following the otherwise simple procedure. She was admitted to the hospital three days ago, but internal bleeding could not be stopped after the operation, according to a PPP source: “She was again operated upon on Sunday, but her condition deteriorated and she was put on a ventilator,” the source said.
Both her family as well as the PPP leadership have appealed to the people to pray for her recovery.
Shortly after news broke about her hospitalisation, President Asif Ali Zardari contacted Wahab’s family members to inquire about her health. Prime Minister Gilani also prayed for her early recovery. In a short statement, the PM directed hospital administration to provide her with the best possible medical facilities.
Muttahhida chief Altaf Hussain, NA Speaker Fehmida Mirza, PPP leader Agha Siraj Durrani and PML-F leader and Advisor to Sindh CM Imtiaz Sheikh amongst others have appealed to the people to pray for her recovery.Our correspondent adds from Lahore: PML-N President Nawaz Sharif on Sunday also expressed his concern over the ill health of Fauzia Wahab and prayed for her recovery.
