While briefing the Senate Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training, HEC Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed has admitted that around 45 university campuses and over 3,000 colleges are working illegally across the country. They either have no affiliation with any university or have not obtained no-objection certificates. He also expressed his inability to take on these illegal universities and colleges because these are being backed by various political personalities.
Coming from the HEC chairman, this statement tells us of the sorry state of education. The government should initiate an inquiry and unearth political mafias that were mentioned by the HEC chairman. Moreover, if the HEC chairman cannot withstand such groups he should better resign.
