This refers to the article, ‘Cat on a hot tin roof’ (June 25) by Taj M Khattak. According to the writer, democracy does not suit us. Our present lot is a product of military regimes. They were raised to neutralise the popularity of elected governments and in doing so dictators have inflicted irreparable loss on the nation and the country just to prolong their rule.
Can anyone accuse Liaquat Ali Khan, H S Suhrawardy, Kh Nazimuddin, Sardar Nishtar, Sir Froze Khan Noon, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and many of their kind of corruption? Money laundering and amassing wealth in foreign countries was unthinkable in those days.
