It is good that public universities are introducing new and modern programmes at Bachelors and Masters levels. However, they are facing several problems in this regard. First, syllabus and curricula are being prepared without proper planning. Second, universities do not have the required faculty for new subjects. Teachers from other relevant disciplines are providing their services, making it difficult for students to understand subjects. Third, universities do not guide students about the scope of new subjects and how they would help them in their jobs.
Our policymakers and experts should introduce such programmes only after completing all necessary formalities. Universities should first train their faculty members for these newly introduced courses so that they can guide students properly.
