Unsafe at home

This refers to the news report, ‘Armed dacoits loot Wasim Sajjad’s house’ (February 19). Though such incidents are common in our country, it is the position of the person whose house was looted and the city where the heist took place that matter. It speaks volumes of the law and order situation in the country.
When the homes of people like Wasim Sajjad are not safe, then ordinary people are simply not safe. One wonders why successive governments have failed to take action against criminals. If the government is really sincere in improving law and order then it should take indiscriminate action against criminals. For this our police force should be overhauled and transfers and postings should be on merit.
