The condition of the education sector in Sindh is pathetic. Most government schools have unsafe buildings while 49 percent of the schools have no basic facilities such as electricity, clean drinking water, washrooms, etc. More than 18,000 school buildings have no outer boundary walls. Despite yearly increase in the provincial education budget no positive change can be seen in the education sector. There are still 7.3 million children in the province who are not going to school.
The reason behind this failure is that only two percent of the budget is spent on the development of education while the remaining portion is spent on recruitment, salaries and allowances, maintenance, etc. Therefore, the Sindh education minister is requested to utilise the allocated budget fully.
