DHA sold land before acquiring it: NAB
ISLAMABAD: The DHA entered into an agreement with a private company on July 9, 2008 to acquire 5,000 kanals of land in CDA Zones 4 and 5. The company was also to acquire 25,000 kanals of land in six months so that the DHA could complete its project. The DHA is facing allegations in NAB that it started issuing allotment certificates before acquiring 5,000 kanals of land. Col (retd) Sabahat Qadeer Butt, and Brig (retd) Javed Iqbal of the DHA and private company’s former CEO Wasim Aslam Butt have been nominated in the case and were arrested on January 20, 2016. In the light of their statements, the NAB has found thatDHA entered the agreement with the private company without investigating if it had land or not. The DHA sent acknowledgement letters to EOBI and Evacuee Trust of Pakistan. It also started selling allotment certificates without mentioning that the land is not transferable.
The accused have adopted that the decisions they took were endorsed by 8-member executive board and the former CEO of the private company said the company is responsible for its decisions as he has left it. After completion of their remand, they will be produced before an Accountability Court.
