Chand, Khurrum fail in New Delhi shooting competition
KARACHI: Pakistan’s hopes to win quota places for Rio Olympics dashed on Tuesday as Usman Chand and Khurrum Inam failed to perform well in the Asia Olympic Qualifying Competition for Shooting in New Delhi.
Usman disappointed by scoring just 63 (22, 19, 22) on the first day of the qualification round in Skeet event and 74 (23, 24) on the second day. His total of 110 earned him the 30th position.
Three-time Olympian Khurrum did not even start the competition. National Rifle Association of Pakistan (NRAP) was counting on G M Bashir and Usman Chand but they both failed to even qualify for the second rounds in their respective events, rapid fire pistol and skeet. Pakistan will now hope for getting a quota place through reallocation of quotas or a wild card.
