Cricket failure
Our batsmen and bowlers have miserably failed and withered away every chance of winning the series against New Zealand. The selection of players was wrong. We had a weak captain to start with. He used bowlers without considering their effectiveness. Our openers also failed to understand their role and gave away wickets by playing suicidal shots. Ahmed Shehzad did not perform at all. He failed in both formats – T20 and ODI – of the game.
The middle order as usual did not click. We experimented with different players each time but without getting any positive results. Even the celebrated Sarfraz Ahmad did not perform. Irfan’s advantage proved to be his undoing. When our prime bowlers fail to take wickets then one has to resort to non-regulars. But non-regulars should be used sparingly – and not as stock bowlers. To start with we should axe the chief selector and get rid of the expensive Waqar Younis.
