NAB team attacked during house search

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has taken a serious note of the incident that took place on Wednesday when a team of NAB officers was assaulted by the family members of accused Raja Babar Ali Zulqurnain, son of Raja Zulqurnain, former president of AJK while conducting a house search.

The search was being conducted on the pointation of accused Raja Babar Ali Zulqurnain during his physical remand to collect some important/relevant record pertaining to the investigation of Karkey Rental Power case. The NAB team was accompanied by the local police and administration of Mirpur, AJK during the search.

The injured NAB officers were taken to hospital where they were medically examined and given medical treatment.The NAB authorities have decided to take all administrative and legal measures against persons involved and in this regard an FIR has already been lodged at the concerned police station. According to the NAB, it has been further decided to initiate legal actions under Section 31 (a) of NAO 1999 against the responsible persons for hampering the process of investigation.

The NAB authorities said that Raja Babar Ali Zulqurnain had played a key role as a local representative of M/s Karkey in inflicting a loss of billions of rupees on the government exchequer.The case against M/s Karkey was referred by the Supreme Court of Pakistan to NAB for investigation along with 11 other RPP cases.
