The Citizens Foundation (TCF), a non-profit organisation running one of the largest network of school’s in less privileged areas of the country, was the only non-governmental organisation to be representing Pakistan at the 46th World Economic Forum, currently underway at Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, read a statement issued by the organisation on Friday.
The organisation was being represented at the global summit by its chairman, also the founding director, Mushtaq Chhapra.
Over 40 heads of state and government, around 2,500 leaders of various corporate and social entities were said to have come together at the WEF to discuss t this year’s theme ‘Mastering the Fourth Industrial Revolution’.
Critical current challenges such as security, climate change and ‘new normal’ global growth and commodity prices were among a few of the points on the agenda of the conference.
Speaking about TCF’s participation in the WEF annual meeting, Chhapra said, “In line with WEF’s commitment to improving the state of the world, TCF aims to provide quality, modern education in the most vulnerable and marginalised communities across Pakistan. Ensuring equal access to educational opportunities is essential if we want to create a secure and stable Pakistan as well as a fairer and safer world.”
