Imran inaugurates school for underprivileged students
PESHAWAR: A well-known philanthropist family of Peshawar has set up a school on the campus of newly-inaugurated SOS village in the city to educate 1,200 boys and girls.
The Aziz Jan Institute of Learning was inaugurated by Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan, who was in the city to attend the inauguration ceremony of the two-level flyover, Bab-e-Peshawar, at Hayatabad on Monday.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Asad Qaiser, Minister for Education Muhammed Atif Khan, Ambassador of Republic of Korea in Pakistan Dr. Song Jong-Hwan, Iranian consul general in Peshawar and Senator Mohsin Aziz among a number of notables and high-ranking officers.
Aziz Jan Institute of Learning has been established at SOS Hermann Gmeiner Project that will cater to the education needs of around 1,200 underprivileged students and orphans inmates of the SOS village.
The institute has been conceived and constructed by the chairman of the Aziz Jan Foundation, Senator Mohsin Aziz.The school is first of its kind in the militancy-torn province that is supposed to provide state-of-the art education facilities, including laboratories, computer classes, facilities for disciplines of contemporary studies and large playgrounds for extracurricular activities.
Mohsin Aziz in his welcome remarks said the aims and objectives of the school were to provide the underprivileged boys and girls with an equal opportunity to compete with the students of quality private educational institutions.
The students of Aziz Jan Institute of Learning will be well-placed to meet future challenges and they would avail better opportunities in their practical lives, he said.He added that Aziz Jan Foundation was also actively involved in other social welfare projects, including providing free meals to patients in different hospitals in the Peshawar city and scholarships, besides running a free primary school.Speaking on the occasion, Imran Khan lauded efforts of the Aziz Jan Foundation for providing education facilities to the destitute and underprivileged class of the society.
