HUJRA SHAH MUQEEM: A student of matriculation cut off his own hand as a punishment for what he believed to be an act of blasphemy at a Mehfil-e-Milad. Police have arrested Qari Shabbir, orator of the Mehfil. However, SHO Nosher Kathia of Hujra Shah Muqeem has said the act of cutting off his hand is a personal deed of the youth, Anwar Ali.
He took the extreme action after he raised his hand inadvertently to the question of the Qari as to who refuses to bring comfort to the eyes of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), by not offering Namaz. Anwar Ali told The News that he repented of raising his hand, though inadvertently, and deemed it appropriate to cut off his hand as a punishment to the blasphemy. He claimed that he felt no pain at the cut-off. He said that the speech of the Qari was not provocative. This was confirmed by the village people also.
