Five-day anti-polio drive starts today
Rawalpindi: A five-day anti-polio drive will start in Rawalpindi district today.
During the campaign, almost 811,000 children below five years of age would be administered anti-polio drops. Some 1,740 teams have been constituted to achieve the target.
The health department has finalised all arrangements for the anti-polio campaign, said Executive District Health Officer Dr.
Arshad Ali Sabir talking to this news agency on Sunday.
"We have taken special measures to further streng-then the coverage during
the anti-polio drive," he
said.
He said that senior staff of the district health department would be deputed to monitor activities during the campaign.
Special counters would be established at public parks, railway station, bus stands, wagon stands, airport and other transit points to administer anti-polio drops to children so that no child up to the age of five years could remain unattended, he added.
Dr. Arshad Ali Sabir said that the district health department would try to make Rawalpindi polio-free. He hoped that the campaign would achieve the set target.
